Afraid to peak your head out of the sand?

Think again!

You have a lot to loose - and everything to gain!

Will you close your B&B or vacation rental business down,
or will you choose to continue operations illegally?

How would you find your customers though?

As presented in the current version of the Bill any evidence of your advertising your business could result in a SEARCH WARRANT
* being issued and your property may be searched for evidence of illegal activity. Yes, you have read right!
Are we sure we are still residing in the US or maybe in Nazi Germany?

The County Council can & will easily find any of our vacation rental properties on the web - they probably already know who we are. The Question is this: Are you willing to accept without resistance, that you will be asked and required to close down your business, and forego the income that your family depends on?

But maybe you'll be OK, you think. Maybe you'll be in one of the VDA
* (Visitor Destination Areas) areas of Kauai. Maybe it will all blow over - Maybe it's not your problem. Why bother!

You should care, because it affects everyone on Kauai! We are a small community and we depend on each other. Anyone on Ag-land will not be allowed to continue; and the many families located in Non-VDA zones (residential but away from the beach) are not guaranteed a permit but will be put under tight scrutiny to provide extensive documentation, and will have to go through tight repermitting procedures every couple of years, should they be lucky enough to receive a permit in the first place.
* We are talking about hundreds, maybe thousands of Kauai families! The real number would only become evident after this law is passed.

Think about what this would do to our local economy? Our job market. Our real estate values and capability of selling your home. The many bankruptcies to follow! Is this what we want for our island, and for our neighbors and friends?

We must stand together! Residents and property owners we urge you to sign the petition, and stand with us. You are not alone and we will not accept this Bill until it is fair (grandfathering with guaranteed permits) to all involved!

*VDA (Visitor Destination Areas) of Kauai: Poipu, Lihue, Kapaa/Wailua & Princeville. CAUTION: Not the whole of these areas are allowed for vacation rental - you are basically looking at an area a couple of hundred yards from the beach!
